We work with objects from all over the world and of all periods. The majority of our restoration work is in the English and European tradition dating from the late 17th Century to the mid 19th Century. This wide range of different styles requires us to have extensive knowledge and experience of design, wood carving and traditional finishes.
We specialise in the traditional method of water gilding on a gesso preparation and also provide other decorative finishes including oil gilding, painting and parcel gilding.
We have thorough experience of these techniques and the many stylistic variations where they are applied.
Finished looks are decided through collaboration with the client to achieve what is appropriate for the piece and its context.
Our carving work ranges from delicate pierced ornament to full sized figure carving in a variety of timbers.
